Access & Tools
DrugMatrix delivers sophisticated software for fast and easy access to the information you want—and the ability to interpret it.
The advanced query tool allows scientists
to formulate and execute queries that find information in
all of the integrated data domains based on any of the available
information. The researcher can formulate a query combining
literature-derived information on genes or compounds, pharmacological
activity, expression changes, or chemical structure. Some
examples include the ability to identify:
- Compounds that modulate a specific gene product
- Compounds that induce the expression of a specific gene
- Genes that are induced/repressed by a specific compound
- Genes in a specific pathway
- Compounds that affect a specific pathway
- Compounds with a specific mechanism of action or therapeutic
class
Specialized query algorithms identify patterns
based on structural or experimental information. DrugMatrix
integrates proprietary and third-party algorithms that allow
the identification of information relevant to the activities
and toxicities of proprietary lead compounds. Expression array
experiments and the results of pharmacology panels can be
queried against the DrugMatrix database to identify compounds
that elicit similar responses. Chemical structures can be
queried against the assembled structures in DrugMatrix to
identify structurally related reference compounds.
Create and manipulate lists of items DrugMatrix uses
lists as a mechanism to allow the interactive refinement of
queries. Lists, the result of individual queries, can be combined
or intersected sequentially to implement highly sophisticated
searches in a very user-friendly way. Lists are saved during
working sessions and can be exported to use in more complex
data mining sessions.
Visualize pathways The pathway visualization tool displays
the relationships of gene products in a pathway and allows
the overlay of expression data with selected compound treatments.
Data can be supported in multiple platforms DrugMatrix
supports analysis and querying with expression data from any
of two expression platform formats. Data can be read from
files generated by GE Healthcare’s CodeLink®,
Affymetrix’s MicroArray Suite®.
Export data to other analysis software DrugMatrix supports
the analysis of pharmacological assays and expression data
in commercial packages available from such companies as Spotfire.
Either pharmacological assays or expression data can be exported
in simple tab-delimited text files that can be used in any
of these packages. The data exporter allows you to do sophisticated
filtering, enabling you to only export the most relevant data.
