Literature Profiles One of the values of creating a database consisting of the known pharmacopoeia is that an enormous amount of information is already available about the benchmark compounds and the gene products with which these compounds interact. Scientists already use this information, but it is scattered among hundreds of different sources—in the primary literature and in secondary sources, both paper and electronic. Iconix assembles information from these diverse data sources using teams of expert curators and places the information into a database in a uniform format, which is accessible using the DrugMatrix software. The curated literature information on known biochemistry, pharmacology, toxicology and other aspects of a drug’s activity allows users to immediately mine and interpret experimental information related to their candidate molecules.
